Privacy
Privacy, in plain language.
How Critique Partner handles your information - what we actually do today, no boilerplate.
What we collect
- Your writing - the chapters you submit, the versions you keep, and the story bible built from them. The heart of what you trust us with.
- Your account - the email you sign in with, plus basic details to run your projects and credits.
- Usage records - per-critique metering (token counts, cost, latency, success). Never your manuscript text.
How we use it
- To generate the feedback you ask for.
- To build and maintain your story bible and continuity checks.
- To run your account, credits, and billing.
- To keep the service secure and working.
We never sell your data, advertise against your writing, or use it to train AI models.
Who we share it with
Only the services that make Critique Partner work - no one else, and never data brokers or advertisers:
- Established AI providers (such as Anthropic and OpenAI) generate your feedback via their commercial APIs; they don’t train on it and retain it only briefly. See Responsible AI.
- Our hosting provider (Railway) runs the app and database in the US, on infrastructure encrypted at rest.
- Cloudflare serves the site and counts page views. Its analytics set no cookies, store no identifier for you, and cannot follow you to another site - see below.
How we protect it
- Encrypted in transit - HTTPS / TLS everywhere, with
Securecookies. - Encrypted at rest - stored on infrastructure encrypted by default (Railway, SOC 2 Type II certified).
- Account-scoped - only you can reach your work; our team accesses it only to run or support the service, or meet a legal obligation.
- Minimal analytics - usage records hold counts and costs, never your text. Page analytics are cookieless: Cloudflare counts a visit, the page, the referring site and the country, and there is no identifier that ties one visit to another or follows you anywhere else. It is also why you have never seen a cookie banner here: there are no tracking cookies to ask you about.
Your choices
- You choose which chapters to submit, and which partners read them.
- You can edit or remove any project, chapter, or bible entry you create.
- Ask us about your data, or for help removing it, any time.
Billing
What we charge, how credits work, and when they expire live on the billing policy page. Payments run through Stripe - we never see or store your card number.
